Baton Rouge Community College/Baton Rouge Advancing Health Literacy (BRAHL) is hosting a “Women’s Summit & Health Care Expo” . We are seeking partners in the local health care industry, educational institutions, and community organizations to join us. The purpose of this event is to increase health awareness and provide health care literacy in the community. This event will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 at Baton Rouge Community College – Magnolia Gallery from 12 pm to 3 pm (vendor set-up from 10 am to 12 pm ). Emmy-Winning Actress Lynn Whitfield, native of Baton Rouge, will serve as our keynote speaker. The women’s summit will begin at 2 pm in Baton Rouge Community College’s Magnolia Theater. The Family Resource Group Foundation and Kid Scoop News recently partnered with the City of Baton Rouge and Baton Rouge Advancing Health Literacy for a coloring contest . The contest invited children from kindergarten to fifth grade to showcase their creativity through coloring a page centered around health and wellness. Recognizing the importance of nurturing young talent, Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys, under its charity arm, Gordon Gives , provided five bikes for each of the first place winners of the coloring contest. Additionally, McKernan’s team personally attended the prize presentation ceremony to reinforce the message that the community values and recognizes the efforts of its youth.
