Symposium: “The State of Minority Health Post COVID-19” (July 21-22, 2023)

On July 21 and July 22, 2023, the Mayor’s Office, via its Baton Rouge Advancing Health Literacy initiative, will present a Symposium entitled  “The State of Minority Health Post COVID-19”.     The purpose of this event is to convene medical personnel, particularly persons of color, heath care advocates and practitioners as well as members of the community who represent marginalized communities to discuss and develop future approaches to address health literacy within vulnerable communities.   This event will be held at the BREC Administrative Building on Florida Boulevard.   More details are forthcoming very soon.

June 10 Event to Help Scotlandville Residents Receive Free Home Repair

Councilperson Chauna Banks of the East Baton Rouge/City of Baton Rouge District 2 Metropolitan Council is partnering with CPEX, Louisiana Housing Corporation, and the Wilson Foundation to host a gathering for those interested in FREE Home Repairs and Upgrades (Weatherization), Mortgage and Rental Assistance,  Roof Reset and Utilities Help. The event will assist eligible Scotlandville residents with applications for free home weatherization. To submit, take a photo or scan the artwork. Choose the grade the child is in. Follow the on-screen instructions to submit. You can enter now through May 31! Be sure to vote for your child's artwork!
